Staff and Aides will remind students to wash and sanitize their hands before and after eating or drinking and before and after using the restroom.

Elevated temperature above 100.0
Cough, shortness of breath, or any difficulty breathing
Cold symptoms, such as: sinus congestion, runny nose, sore throat, headache, etc.
Body aches
New loss of taste or smell
What to do if your child or someone in your household has been exposed to COVID?
First, an EXPOSURE is defined by having spent 15 minutes or more in a 24-hour period, indoors and within 6 feet of a person with COVID-19.
**Please be aware that someone who gets sick with or tests positive for COVID-19 can start infecting others 2 days BEFORE feeling sick or testing positive.
If your child is exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID-19:
Please notify the Co-Directors right away at dngreg@gmail.com or 510-390-4918.
If your child is fully vaccinated, and is entirely symptom-free, they may continue to attend Daruma, and should be tested on day 3-5 (day 0 is the day of exposure).
We request that your child use a mask in program until a negative result is confirmed on day 3-5.
If your child becomes sick or tests positive for COVID-19:
Immediately isolate, monitor symptoms, and obtain a PCR test.
If your child has been at Daruma no Gakko since their exposure, please notify Daruma Co-Directors right away at dngreg@gmail.com or 510-390-4918.
If a PCR test is NEGATIVE, your child may attend program when they are feeling better and they have been fever-free, without fever-reducing medication, for 24 hours.
If the PCR test is POSITIVE, the child should stay home and retest on day 5 (day 0 is the day they tested positive, with or without symptoms).
Child may attend Daruma on day 6 if they are symptom free, they have been fever-free without fever-reducing medication for 24 hours, and their day 5 antigen test is negative
If your child tests positive for COVID-19 again, with or without symptoms, the date of the second test becomes day 0, they should be tested again on day 5.
We will notify families by class immediately of any exposure of staff or students. If there is a positive case in the class, parents should follow the above exposure guidelines for vaccinated persons. For more information, please visit the City of Berkeley COVID-19 Safety guidelines.
Absence Policy
Please notify the Co-Directors right away at dngreg@gmail.com or 510-390-4918 if your child will be absent for any reason. If your child is unable to attend program on one or more days of Daruma no Gakko, we will offer some activities that can be done at home. We will not be able to offer an online class session, and the at-home projects may differ from the in-program projects. We are unable to offer any refund or re-scheduling for days missed.
